Gary Harris, (81), of Englewood, formerly of Portsmouth, Ohio on September 28th, 2023 returned home to be with his Heavenly Father at the Dayton VA Medical Center. His time on earth will be forever remembered as a beloved son, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland August 15th, 1942 and resided in Ohio for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved father: Howard E. Harris (1979) and mother: Clara (Williams) Harris (2009), who lived with him for the last eleven years of her life. His survivors include his daughters: Tami (Tom) Price, Tracy Ries; son that he never had: Lonnie Ries; six grandchildren: Courtney (Christopher) Norman, Christina (Vincent) Radominski, Mathew Partin, Taylor Ries, Victoria Ries and Emmaline Ries; and ten great-grandchildren: Colten, Chloe, Allisen, Morgen, Avery, Cooper, Aubrie, Elaina, Tucker, and Lakeyn.
Gary was blessed to have the Dayton VA Medical Center and Staff take care of him, as he would say they were a piece to his puzzle of life. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 707 Englewood, and a faithful follower in his Lord almighty. He retired in January 2002 from Agfa Healthcare and was a former employee of the beloved Good Samaritan Hospital. His love of God and family patterned his life. He was proud to be called son, Dad, Papa, Gary, a friend, a quasi-comedian and grateful for all those who walked with him throughout his life. He felt he was blessed with all the titles.
