Gary R. "Pete" Chaney Gary R. "Pete" Chaney, age 71, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 5:05PM on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Upper Valley Medical Center, ICU, Troy, Ohio. He was born March 1, 1938 in Troy, to the late Charles E. and Minnie Hansford Chaney. He is survived by the mother of his children, Georgia "Ann" Chaney; children: Tami Westfall Joseph Moore, Mindy Kevin Northup and Charles "Pete" Rachel Cummins Chaney all of Troy; brothers and sisters: Jean Avey of Troy, Mary Ellen Durst of Tipp City, Ohio, Kaye Scherer of Troy, Jerry Chaney of Troy, Larry Chaney of Pleasant Hill, Ohio; Bill Chaney of Troy, Jack Chaney of Greenville, Ohio and Betty Moore of Troy; and three grandchildren: Robert Westfall II, Angel Westfall and Chelsey Chaney. He is also survived by caretakers, Kevin and Theresa Burnside and special friend, his dog, Kobe. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Dorothy Hall, Bob Chaney, Charles Chaney, Jim Chaney, Don Chaney, Dave Chaney, Barb Stewart and Judy Young. He was a 1958 Graduate of Newton High School and a member of Troy View Church of God. He coached men's softball for Mensciks, Chaney & Son, and Troy Bowl Sponsors. Gary was a laborer with the City of Troy for nearly 25 years before retiring in 1994. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Baird Funeral Home Troy, with Pastor Stephen Zimbelman officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Ohio. Friends may call from 11:00AM–1:00PM Saturday May 9, 2009 at the funeral home.
