Fred graduated from Danbury High School in 1948. After one year at the University of Connecticut he enlisted in the United States Air Force in September of 1950.  While in the service, he graduated from Radar School at Keesler Air Force Base near Biloxi, MS. He was chosen to join a sixty man 1009 Special Weapons Squadron in Washington, DC. After completing specialized training in Maryland and Fort Sill, OK, this special group was issued a "Q" clearance above Top Secret and was deployed to all parts of the world in groups of two.  Fred volunteered for the war zone in Korea.  The team consisted of 7 men due to the nature of the area being a war zone.  The mission of all members throughout the world, now having been de-classified, was to gather any and all information pertaining to the development and use of an Atomic Bomb by any country, friend or enemy. Spying on North Korea was the target for Fred's group.

Seven months prior to the end of the Korean War, Fred was returned home due to the death of his newborn son Fred, Jr. He was subsequently stationed in Laramie, WY to train future members of the 1009 Special Weapons Squadron.

Upon discharge from the Air Force 1954, Fred and Margaret returned to Connecticut where he resumed his college education, taking classes at Yale University, University of Bridgeport, CT and Western Connecticut University in Danbury, CT.  As an Electronics Engineer, with Consolidated Controls Corp. in Bethel, CT, he worked on the development of the first robot for the automotive industry.

In 1966, Fred joined AMP Inc. in Harrisburg, PA as a Sales Engineer. He was relocated to the AMP Headquarters in Columbus, OH and then to Troy, OH in January of 1970 as a Field Sales Engineer.

While living in Troy before and after retirement, Fred was an active and past board member at the Troy Country Club, a member of Troy Elks Lodge 833. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and enjoyed golf and his family. He was a very caring family man and was grateful for the love that surrounded him.
