Obituary

RASKAY JR., Frank, age 77, peacefully passed away at his home in Fletcher on March 8, 2017. He was born in Tolcsva, Hungary to the late Ferenc Raskai and Erzsbet (Madarasz) Raskai.

He is survived by his children, Melissa Raskay-Bianco (Joe) and F. Scott Raskay, grandchildren Taylor Raskay, Lauren and Kelsey Bianco, and Tucker and Eva Raskay, brother Jozsef Raskay (Marilyn), nephew Michael Raskay (Kelli), and great niece Emily. Also survived by his family in Hungary:  sister Eva Palfi Raskay, niece Evi Palfi (Tamas Kurucz), great niece and nephew Flora and Aron Kurucz.

At the age of 17, Frank escaped communist Hungary with his father and brother and arrived in America on Jan. 1, 1957. He quickly learned English, married Betty Sue Norrod, began studying the machine shop trade and eventually became a master precision machinist. He retired from General Motors after 29 years. Frank will be sadly missed by many. He was known for his engaging personality, all things American, and the occasional nip of peach brandy. Frank loved playing semi-pro soccer and his family and friends.
