Francis "Frank" Eugene Whidden Francis "Frank" Eugene Whidden, age 93, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 8:55PM on Tuesday March 23, 2010 at Garbry Ridge Assisted Living Piqua, Ohio. He was born on September 9, 1916 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Carl Eugene and Katherine Hanley Whidden. His wife of 65 years, Mary B. Burrets Whidden, survives. In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Thomas and Linda Whidden of LaQuinta, California, and Wesley and Kathy Whidden and William and Susan Whidden all of Troy; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Don Watson of Troy; nine grandchildren: Brett Presley Whidden, Joshua Whidden, Chad Amanda Whidden, Laura Mickey Battle, Zachary Whidden, Bethany Whidden, Annie Jared Leiby, Jeffrey Whidden and Elizabeth Jordan Kramer; and seven great-grandchildren: Jack, Kelly, Will, Molly and Michael Whidden and Fiona and Alexandria Battle. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Emily Watson. He was a graduate of The University of Toledo with a Civil Engineering Degree. Frank was a Lieutenant Commander for the US Navy having served in WWII and Korea. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Troy where he served as a lay minister for several years after his retirement. He was also a member of Rotary International and a Paul Harris Fellow. He retired from St. Regis Paper Company, Troy in 1975. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with Rev. Stephanie Haines officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Friends may call from 4-7PM on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ, 120 S. Market Street, Troy, Ohio 45373 and Hospice of Miami County, P.O. Box 502, Troy, Ohio 45373. Friends may express condolences to the family through www.bairdfuneralhome.com
