Obituary

Francis A. Frank Jakubek passed away July 11, 2003 at his residence. Frank was born of the late George and Susan Glovna Jakubek. A decorated US Army Veteran having served in WWII, 52nd Armored Infantry Battalion. Frank was a 1936 graduate of Johnstown High School,PA and earned his B.A. in Accounting Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, PA. Frank retired after 32 years of service with BF Goodrich Company, Troy, Ohio. He was a member and Eucharist Minister of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy. He was also involved in the ministry of the sick with visits to hospitals, nursing homes and shut-ins. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Post #43. He was a coach for Troy Junior Little League Baseball for 29 years and was a contributing sports writer for the Troy Daily News. Frank was instrumental in the development of Knoop Baseball Complex as well as the Troy Housing Opportunity United Development, Troy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jakubek was preceded in death by his brother, John Kolega. Frank is survived by his wife, Magdalen Shuhayda; children, sons and daughter-in-law, James and Elizabeth; Thomas; Kenneth and John Jakubek; daughters and son-in-law, Nancy and Robert Jackson and Carol Fosse; sisters, Margaret Friedman; Helen Gombar and Irene Cannizzaro; brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Dorothy Kolega; George and Rosemary Kolega; sister-in-law, Vivian Kolega and seven grandchildren, Zachary Jakubek; Erin Jakubek; Jodi Jakubek; Milisa Jakubek; Laura Jackson; Cathy Jackson and Caitlin Jakubek. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County or St. Patrick Catholic Church.
