Frances S. Shaeffer, age 89, formerly of Troy and more recently of Piqua, OH,  passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Piqua Manor.   She was born on September 19, 1927 in Piqua to the late Pete and Grace (Geoghegan) Mikolajewski.  On July 21, 1951, Frances married the late Charles R. Shaeffer.

Frances is survived by her daughter and son-in-law:  Donna and Michael Darner; two grandsons:  Aaron Darner and Eric Darner; great-grandchildren: Lance, Kendall, Adalyn and Alexander Darner and sister: Joanne Kelly all of Piqua.  In addition to her parents and her husband, Frances was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.

Frances was a graduate of Piqua Catholic High School.  She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy.  She was formerly employed with Ordings Fruit Market.  Frances enjoyed bingo and especially time with her family.

Services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Baird Funeral Home in Troy.  Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.  The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00AM on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, PO Box 502, Troy, OH 45373.
