Frances Ellen Hobart Brown Frances Ellen Hobart Brown, age 51, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 7:55PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Troy Care and Rehabilitation Center after three years of battling cancer. She was born on January 2, 1960 in Troy, to Carolyn Bucholtz Hobart of Troy and the late Charles C. Hobart Jr. who preceded her in death on April 16, 2006. In addition to her mother, Ellen is survived by her husband of 23 years, Deron W. Brown; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Chase and Janelle Brown and Cooper Brown all of Troy; and brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Tiresa Hobart of Troy. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Troy. Ellen was a 1978 graduate of Troy High School and attended Ohio Northern University, where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 1982. She continued her education at Bowling Green State University for one year. After college she taught at Miami Valley School in Dayton, then at Miami East High School in Special Education for many years. Many of her long time and cherished friends were members of the staff at Miami East. In earlier years she enjoyed ice skating and swimming, coaching several years at the Dolphin Swim Club, Troy and Tecumseh Woods, Piqua. She loved playing tennis and treasured the many close friends she had with teammates and other players. She especially enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church, Troy, with Rev. Dr. Richard Culp officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Church's Upper Gathering Area.
