Floyd H. Smith Floyd H. Smith, age 98, of Troy, a native of Chetek, Wisconsin, died at 8:10PM on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Koester Pavilion, Troy. He was born on October 1, 1911 to the late Clarence Edward and Cora Bell Rich Nethken Smith in Appelonia, Rusk County, Wisconsin. He married Lucille Evelen Tallman on September 7, 1938 in Chetek, Wisconsin. He is survived by three children: twins, Merlyn Linda Smith of Rawlins, Wyoming and Lelyn Yvonne Smith of Hanna Wyoming; daughter, Bonnie Rick Hoover of Troy, Ohio and daughter-in-law, Vicky Smith of New Cuyama, California; sister, Edna Frank Kreps of Warren, Ohio; grandchildren , great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lucille, on January 18, 1991; one son, Mark Smith; three brothers, Virgil, Gilbert and Charles; one stepbrother, William and three stepsisters: Sadie, Cecelia and Elizabeth. He attended Living Word Fellowship, Troy. He was a farmer and a carpenter and he had worked in the ship yard in Seattle, Washington. Floyd loved nature, fishing and hunting and finding out about the local history of the places he had lived. He would do anything for anybody. Funeral services will be held in Taft, California. Local arrangements are in care of Baird Funeral Home, Troy. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or American Diabetes Association.
