Fannie M. Hickman Matthews TROY -- Fannie M. Hickman Matthews, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 8th in Troy, Ohio. She was born December 20, 1919 in Yamacraw, Kentucky to the late Eddie and Rebecca White Hickman. She married Raymond Matthews on July 18, 1936 and they shared 71 years together before his death in 2007. She leaves behind one brother, Loy Barbara Hickman of Sidney and 3 children, Kelly Gail Matthews of Gambrills, Maryland, Doris Gary Dankworth of Troy, Ohio, and Darlene Mike Ellis of Middlesboro, Kentucky. Her family also includes 11 grandchildren: Kelly Matthews II, Jennifer Matthews Mish, Jon, Gary, and Michael Dankworth, Kristin Dankworth Barth, Toby, Todd, Tim, Tyler, and Trevor Ellis, as well as 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Oscar, Herbert and Roscoe Hickman and three sisters, Nola and Nannie Hickman and Myrtle Crim. Fannie and Raymond moved to Sidney, Ohio in 1951 where they attended the Wilson Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. She worked at Wagner Ware and Copeland Corporation, from where she retired. They moved to Troy in 1974, attending First Southern Baptist Church and then First Baptist Church. She loved to cook and sew and used those talents for many years helping in the churches she attended. Her family loved and respected her, and will miss her dearly. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Troy, with Pastor Dale Christian and Pastor Doug Magin officiating. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, following the service. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 P.M. Friday, June 10th at Baird Funeral Home.
