Eugene "Gene" Thomas Gretch, age 84, of Troy, OH passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit.  Gene was born on January 5, 1935 in Detroit, MI to the late Joseph and Helena (Glegola) Gretch.

Gene is survived by his wife of 56 years: Theresa (McDonough) Gretch; daughters and sons-in-law: Patricia Marie and Craig Colby of Houston, OH and Michele Marie and Andrew Carter of Pittsboro, NC grandsons: Brandon Joseph Colby and Nicholas Aaron Colby; granddaughter: Jessica Marie Colby; sisters and brother-in-law: Annette and Ron Rakay of Fenton, MI and Mary Jo Gretch Bentz of Tacoma, WA.  In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brother: Thomas Robert Gretch.

Gene received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Detroit.  Gene served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.  He was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy and was active with St. Vincent de Paul for over 20 years. He was a member and Past President of the Kiwanis Club and also a member of Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus and the Troy American Legion.  Gene enjoyed golfing for many years.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy, Ohio.  Private interment in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, C/O St. Patrick Church, 409 E Main Street, Troy, Ohio 45373 or Hospice of Miami County, PO Box 502, Troy, Ohio 45373.
