Ethel M. Newman, age 98, of Troy, OH passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Genesis/Troy Care Center in Troy.  She was born on August 6, 1919 in Portsmouth, OH to the late Wesley Allen and Lelia Elizabeth (Floyd) Harris.  She was married to Emory E. "Jack" Newman and preceded her in death in 1977.

Ethel is survived by her daughters and son-in-law: Shirley Newman of Tipp City, Linda Sue Rurode of Gordon, OH and Debbie and Bill Terry of Troy; Sisters: Mary Sue Casey and Nancy Elizabeth Casey of Portsmouth, OH; two Grandchildren; and four Great Grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Ethel was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Troy.  She retired from the Hobart Corporation Cafeteria in 1983 after many years of service.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy.  Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
