Elbert "Bud" Nelson Elbert "Bud" Nelson, 76, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 6:23PM on Friday, January 11, 2008 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born February 1, 1931 in Turrell, Arkansas, to the late Elbert and Addie Barnes Nelson. He was married to Sharon B. Washington Nelson who preceded him in death in 1999. He is survived by his three stepchildren: Steffonnie Johnson of Detroit, MI and James and Melvin Johnson of Troy, Ohio; two brothers: James Joseph Barnes of Atlanta, GA and Bishop Arthur Barnes of Detroit; three sisters: Omegia Anthony of Detroit, MI, Carrie Lee Graves of Detroit, MI and Lula Mae Jackson of Detroit, MI; and two step-grandchildren: Robert Washington of Troy and Ishmail Johnson of Detroit, MI. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his son, Elbert Nelson II. He was a member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Troy and he loved to fish. Mr. Nelson was a retired assembler in the automotive industry. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Thursday, January 17, 2008 at the Riverside Cemetery Chapel, Troy, with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Friends may call at the cemetery chapel one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Fund or the Police Benevolent Society.
