Obituary

Edward H. Schaffner, also known as Butch, Capt. Eddie, and Poopie, 104, died on Friday, October 28, 2005 at 2:30am at the Alterra Sterling House, Troy, Ohio. He was born on October 18, 1901 in Troy, Ohio to the late Charles H. and Ida Driver Schaffner. He married Annabel Ziegler and she passed in 1980. He is survived by one son, Charles Schaffner of Homestead, Florida; grandchildren, Lisa Schaffner of New York; Mark Karen Schaffner of New Hampshire; Todd Schaffner of Arizona; Kurt Schaffner of New Hampshire; Cindy John PaHud of Hawaii and Connie Neil Rhoades of Troy, Ohio; great-grandchildren; Timothy and Stacey PaHud; Megan and Amanda Rhoades; Jake and Eli Schaffner and Truman Schaffner. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; two daughters, Marcia Davis and Janet Schaffner Anderson; two sisters, Edna and Blanche; two brothers, Arthur and Frank and one grandson, Michael Davis. He was a member of Franklin Lodge # 14 F&AM, Troy; Scottish Rite Club, Dayton; Shrine Club and Foreman's Club in Dayton. He worked at Waco; and retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. There will be a celebration of Life Service; Sunday, October 30, 2005 at 5:00pm at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio. There will be a private interment at Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio. Friends may call on the family on Sunday, October 30, 2005 from 4-5pm at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County, PO Box, 502, Troy, Ohio 45373.
