Edward L. McGrath, age 73, of Troy, OH passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit.  He was born on June 29, 1945 in Oregon, IL to the late Nicholas and Genevieve (Grennan) McGrath.

Ed attended Loyola University.  He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy, OH.  Ed came into this world with a disease of the colon, but persevered throughout his childhood.  As a teenager, he became ill and survived a brand new surgery, and was on his way to a normal life.  As he became healthier, he progressed through his career beginning at entry-level with the Admiral Corporation in Chicago.  He later advanced to becoming a Buyer and Plant Manager, and ultimately as Vice-President/General Manager of Simclar Corporation in Dayton.  In addition, his beautiful voice was heard singing many Irish ballads on St. Patrick's Day, especially as a tribute to his mother.  And lastly, he sang Ave Maria at his son Nick and Meghan's wedding in 2015.  His outgoing personality, humor and story-telling put a smile on many a face.  He loved life, his family, his beloved Notre Dame and all his cats over the years, especially his buddy Fluffy.
