EDWARD LEWIS MARTIN

EDWARD LEWIS MARTIN, age 80, of Tipp City, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.  He was born in Eaton on February 22, 1935 to the late Clyde and Ruth (Wilson) Summerlot.  His wife of 54 years, Sammie Lyn (Pointer) Martin, survives.

Edward is also survived by two sons and daughter-in-law: Mark Edward and Pamela Martin of Covington, OH and Alan Stewart Martin of Santa Maria, CA; two sisters: Beverly Coward of Shelton, WA and Evelyn McMurdo of Ridgecrest, CA; one brother: Delson (Sherrie) Summerlot of Eaton, OH; and grandchildren: Amanda Martin of Cincinnati, OH and Daniel Martin of Santa Maria, CA.  In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by one sister: Louise Flinchum.

Edward was a 1953 graduate of Eaton High School.  He also attended Edison Community College.  Edward was a member of Grace Baptist Church.  He proudly served in the US Army for 13 years and also the US Air Force Reserves for 13 years.  Edward retired from Globe Industries as an engineering technician.  He was a member of VFW in Troy and N.A.U.S.  Edward was an amateur painter and wrote a children's book entitled "Randy's World".  He loved the outdoors, especially gardening.  Edward loved reading and was a fan of old westerns.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Grace Baptist Church in Troy with Rev. Shawn Hess and Rev. Joe Heins officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy with full military honors presented by the Veteran's Memorial Honor Guard.  Friends may call from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM on Saturday at the church.
