Edward J. Hobart, age 80, of Troy, OH passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the Upper Valley Medical Center.  He was born on May 8, 1940 in Troy to the late Charles C. Hobart Sr. and Rachael Elizabeth (Russell) Hobart.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years:  Marilyn K. (Stephens) Hobart; son: Brian Hobart of Los Angeles, CA; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Elizabeth B. Hobart and brothers: Edmund F. Hobart, Jon A. Hobart and Charles C. Hobart Jr.

He was a graduate of Troy High School and University of Cincinnati, with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.  Following graduation, he was an engineer at Hobart Brothers, where he met his wife, Marilyn.  Ed was former vice president of Hobart Cabinet Company.  He was owner and operator of Ed Hobart Engineering Services.  Ed was a member of American Welding Society.  He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Troy.  In his earlier years, Ed was a private pilot and an avid ham radio operator.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 2, 2021 at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. Heidi Holst officiating.  Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.

Memorial contributions may be made to Brukner Nature Center in Troy.
