Obituary

Edith passed peacefully away on January 10th, 2023.

Edith was born on September 8th, 1937 to Anna Schneider Schmidli and Arnold Walter Schmidli in the Swiss village of Winterthur. Her studies were in Business Administration which led her to employment as an Executive Secretary at Oerlikon Electrodes Buehrle Limited. In 1962 she married her beloved Andre. In 1964 the couple moved to Amsterdam where Andre took a job with Hobart A G. Edith later followed Andre to Troy, Ohio in 1979 after he had been offered a job at Hobart Brothers Company.

Edith excelled in crafting beautiful hooked rugs and intricate needlework. She was a gourmet chef of her own design. Always a warm and gracious hostess who shared her creations with many friends from all over the world.

Once they were established in their own home in Troy, Andre built Edith a beautiful swimming pool which was her pride and joy. She was known amongst many children who were welcomed to swim with her and to whom she taught the art of swimming.

Edith was an animal lover in the true sense of the word. Those who knew her, knew that she fed raccoons, squirrels, opossums, birds, and feral cats and fed them the best of the best. Two of the cats were brought into their home and domesticated.

Edith had a deep interest in the mysteries of life. She was an avid reader and had an intense interest in the prophecies of Nostradamus. Conversation was never dull.

Edith was loving and devoted to her family, her friends and her animals. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Werner, and her beloved husband of 68 years, Andre. She is survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Erich and Erica Odermatt plus several nephews, a niece and their families; all living in Switzerland.

Internment will take place at a later date.
