Obituary

Douglas L. Taynor, age 82, of Tipp City, OH passed away on April 19, 2025 at Grandview (KHN Dayton) Hospital. He was born on May 28, 1942 in Miami County, OH to the late Marvin and Mildred (Kendig) Taynor.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Ruth Ann (Jess) Taynor; his daughters and son-in-law: Elizabeth Dunivan of Troy and Julia (Galen) Harris of Casstown; two grandchildren: Tyler (Taylor) Dunivan of Troy and Leah Dunivan of London, UK; two great grandchildren: Paislee and Madison Dunivan of Troy; sister and brother-in-law: Charlotte (Jack) McDaniel of The Villages, FL; sister-in-law: Patty Taynor of Troy and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Harold Taynor (infant) and Herbert Taynor.

Doug was a 1960 graduate of Miami East High School where he was a member of their first football team. He was also a member of the Miami East FFA where he earned his state FFA degree. Prior to his junior year, he attended Tecumseh local schools where he was a member of the football team and FFA. Throughout school, he was a member of 4-H clubs in both Clark and Miami Counties showing livestock. In addition, Doug was a member of the Cove Spring Church.

He was a graduate of the Hobart Welding School and also received further education in tool and die making at Sinclair College. Doug thoroughly enjoyed his 55 years of service with the same company, through multiple ownerships, eventually retiring from GE Aviation in 2017.

Doug was able to fix anything, enjoyed being outside, and helping on the family farm. He loved all things related to nature. He passed this love and knowledge along to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Doug especially enjoyed feeding the birds and was an avid bluebird landlord. He loved spending time at county fairs, horse pulls, and horse shows. Doug's greatest pride was his family. He enjoyed family gatherings, cookouts, and supporting his family members at their various sporting events and activities.

The family will hold a private service at a later date. Memorial contributions in Doug's memory may be made to the Miami East FFA or Cove Spring Church.
