Douglas Milton Schwartz Douglas Milton Schwartz, age 83, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 3:45AM on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at his residence. He was born on October 4, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Paul and Hilda Kriewald Schwartz. He married Leslie Elliot Schwartz in 1968 and she survives. Other survivors include his three sons and daughters-in-law: James and Jerri Schwartz of Troy, Douglas and Sandra Schwartz of West Milton, Ohio and Paul and Janet Schwartz of Defiance, Ohio and seven grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Schwartz was preceded in death by his brother, Paul and sister, Rita Mary McCracken. Mr. Schwartz was a graduate of the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, and received a bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University and a master's degree from the University of Texas. He served in the US Air Force for 32 ½ years from 1943 to 1976, retiring as Lt. Colonel and having served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 14, Troy Kiwanis Club, Troy Elks No. 833, American Legion Post 43, VFW Post No. 5436, DAV, Dayton Chapter of Retired Officers, Military Order of World Wars and Trinity Episcopal Church, Troy. He had been a resident of the Miami Valley since 1973 and a resident of Troy since 1996. After serving in the US Air Force, Mr. Schwartz worked as a Licensed Professional Engineer, he taught for the Dayton City School System and Sinclair Community College and was First Project Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity, Dayton. Services will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, February 1, 2010 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Troy, with The Rev. Melody Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with Military Honors at the graveside. Friends may call from 2-4PM on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with Masonic Services and Scottish Rite Ring Presentation.
