Douglas A. "Doug" Pennybacker

Doug passed away on May 11, 2026, at his residence as a result of an untreated injury. He always thought he could “doctor” himself and did not reach out for help.

He was a childhood cancer survivor after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia in 1991. During that time, he was chosen as a Wright-Patt Young Hero, and was recognized with a ceremony at WPAFB. He was also the recipient on a Special Wish Trip to Disney World and was involved in Strawberry Festival Parades. Following three years of chemotherapy, he went on to live a normal, cancer-free life until the time of his death.

Doug was an avid “car guy”, especially proud of the beautiful restoration on his Ford F-150. He could diagnose car problems and could usually fix them, no matter the issue.

His greatest joy in life was his daughters, Jenna and Taylor. He was a push-over when it came to whatever they wanted, sometimes to the extreme, but his love for them was genuine.

Doug was a 2006 graduate of Troy High School. He was employed at 3 Sigma as a Machinist.

Doug is survived by his parents: Cindy (Rick) Tilton-Keylor and Ronald F. (Kathy) Pennybacker; his children: Jenna Mae Pennybacker and Taylor Ann Pennybacker, both of Troy, OH; siblings: Matthew F. (Katina) Pennybacker of Laurel, MD, and Samuel Tilton Pennybacker of Troy, OH; stepsisters: Staci (Justin) Hill of Caldwell, OH, and Stephanie (Shawn) Carpenter of New Martinsville, WV; mother of his children: Whitney Edwards Pennybacker of Troy, OH; and many special Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents: Fred and Margaret Tilton, Caldwell, OH; and paternal grandparents: Frank and Virginia Pennybacker, Belpre, OH.

Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy. Family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
