Dorothy V. Schoch Dorothy V. Schoch, age 88, of Piqua, Ohio passed away at 3:35AM on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. She was born on March 8, 1923 in Cicero, Illinois to the late Earl Veague, Sr. and Loretta B. Kenny Veague. Her husband, Howard Girard Schoch, Sr., preceded her in death on May 4, 1997. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law: Frederick C. "Fritz" and Peggy J. Schoch of Columbus, Ohio, Howard Gary Schoch, Jr. of Vashon Island, Washington and Glenn E. and Rita Schoch of Novato, California; and three grandchildren: Andrew Truman Schoch, Stephanie Michiyo Schoch and Natalie Frances Schoch. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Schoch was preceded in death by one son, Terrell Kenny Schoch on January 25, 2008; three brothers: Earl Jr., William and Clarence Veague; and two sisters: Loretta Veague and Marian Cordell. She was a 1941 graduate of Morton High School, Cicero, Illinois; a 1945 graduate of University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in English. She also attended Wharton's Business College. Mrs. Schoch was formerly very active in civic and social clubs in the community. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy, Afternoon Garden Club, Troy, Troy Historical Association, Miami County Historical Society, Democratic Central Committee Women, Leadership Troy, Troy City Beautification Committee and Aullwood Audubon Center Board. She was a world traveler, having traveled to over 200 countries. Mrs. Schoch retired after 20 years as secretary of her husband's business, Howard Schoch, CPA. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, March 14, 2011 at Holy Trinity Church in Coldwater, Ohio with Rev. Fr. Richard Walling officiating. Interment will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater, Ohio. Memorial visitation will be held from 2-4PM on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Piqua Public Library, 116 W. High Street, Piqua, Ohio 45356 or Troy Miami County Library, 419 W. Main Street, Troy, Ohio 45373.
