Obituary

Dorothy M. Putnam nee McDonald 93, long time Troy resident, passed away early morning Sept. 8, 2007 at Cedar Village skilled care facility in Mason, OH. She was born June 30, 1914, in Tipp City, Ohio to the late Edith nee Kerstein and Harvey McDonald. Her husband, Charles William Putnam, Jr. preceded her in death in 1983. Also preceding her in death were sisters Martha McDonald, Mary Francis McDonald Comer, and Edna Georgie McDonald Coberly. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Aileen Putnam Smeltzer and son-in-law Stephen Paul Smeltzer of Cincinnati, OH, her grandson Hall Selby Smeltzer of Chicago, IL, her brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Margaret McDonald of Tipp City, and sister Margaret McDonald Grady also of Tipp City, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Troy, participated actively as a girl scout leader 1954-56, founded an Al Anon group at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in the early 1970's, and was active helping ostomy patients. She retired from the Clerk of Courts office of the Miami County Court House in 1977. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday 9/12/07 @ 2:00 PM at the Baird Funeral Home 555 N. Market St. Troy, Ohio with the Rev. James. C. Wilson II officiating. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery Troy, Ohio
