Dorothy E. Kingery Dorothy E. Kingery, age 82 of Troy, Ohio, much loved mother, grandmother and friend to many, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her children. She was born on December 16, 1927 in Xenia, Ohio to the late Claude E. and Mabel Mills Hering. Upon the death of her mother at the age of 9 months she was raised by her Aunt Lizzie and Uncle Jake Gerlaugh in Elizabeth Township. Her loving husband, Bernard E. Kingery, preceded her in death on July 8, 1972. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Joe Shellhaas of Troy, Kathy and David Shellhaas of Dayton, Ohio and Julie and Ron Howell of Piqua, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Ned and Katrina Kingery of Christiansburg, Ohio; nine grandchildren: Lisa and David Mathis, Amy and Shane Stickley, Tiffany and Adam Daniel, Jaclyn Shellhaas, Jenny and Andy Rush, Erin Kingery, Joe and Heidi Kingery, Matt and Amanda Howell and Grant and Mary Beth Kingery; 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by one son, Dan; two sisters, Mary Alice Ater and Edythe Watson and one brother, Forrest Hering. She graduated from Elizabeth High School in Miami County, Ohio. Dorothy was a member of the Church of the Brethren in New Carlisle, Ohio and loved serving in Ladies Aide at the church. She retired from Landes Meats but the job she loved the most was being a homemaker and raising her family. A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, August 27, 2010 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Andrew Wright of New Carlisle Church of the Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery, New Carlisle, Ohio. Friends may call from 5-8:00PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor's Favorite Charity.
