Dorothy V. Cherrington, age 85, formerly of Troy and more recently of Columbus, Ohio. She passed away on Monday, September 12 at the Friendship Village of Columbus, Ohio following an extended illness with Alzheimer's. She was born of the late Fred and Elizabeth Evert Suhre. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Howard Gilbert Cherrington in 1997, sister, Katherine Hanks and brother, Fred Suhre. She is survived by her daughter, Cherrie A. Cherrington and son, Howard Gilbert Cherrington II; granddaughter, Danielle Lamsma and great-granddaughter, Haley Christine; sisters, Frances Sandler and Juanita Farris and brother, Thomas Suhre. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Troy where she was formerly very active including the Rebecca Circle of the United Methodist Women. Member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #256, Troy and past deputy grand matron of the Order of the Eastern Star of Ohio and active with the Order of the Rainbow Girls where she served as mother advisor. A graduate of University of Oklahoma in journalism. She retired from the Miami County Chapter of the American Red Cross as Executive Secretary. She served as the first female elected to the Troy City Council. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or charity of choice.
