Doris G. Schaffner Doris G. Schaffner, age 88, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 6:03AM on Monday, September 7, 2009 at Koester Pavilion, Troy. She was born on February 7, 1921 in Shadyside, Ohio to the late Edwin and Doris Gowdy Gillespie. She married Paul S. Schaffner in 1938 and he preceded her in death in 2006. Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law: Paul and Betty Schaffner of Troy and Donald and Linda Schaffner of California; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Doris was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Gillespie and two sisters: Eva Stead and Bernice Scharitts. She was a member of Lake Placid Church of Christ, Florida and Piqua Church of Christ and had been a resident of Troy, Ohio since 1943. Doris was a nurses aide for Dr. Hyde, worked at Stouder Memorial Hospital, Troy and worked for AO Smith. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev.
