DORIS E. SMALLENBARGER

DORIS E. SMALLENBARGER, age 79, of Troy, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Troy Care and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born in Troy on April 26, 1935 to the late Hobart H. and Ella Marie (Sando) Mott.  Her husband of 58 years, Larry W. Smallenbarger, survives.

Doris is also survived by three children and their spouses: Susan and Harold Brumfield of Piqua, Connie and Doug Hess of Casstown and Keith Smallenbarger of Troy; one sister: Helen Curry of Troy; grandchildren: Steven & Kim Brumfield, Jennifer Mangen, Johnathan and Cleo Hess Christine and Thomas Jacquemin, Sarah Hess, Lindsay and Brady Smallenbarger; and great grandchildren: Carley, Macy and Landry Brumfield.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one great grandson: Jude.

Doris was a member of the Troy High School Class of 1953.  She was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church in Troy.  At the church, Doris was a member and past president of the United Methodist Women and a member of the Cartwright Circle.  She was also a longtime 4-H advisor in Miami County.  Doris was recognized as Homemaker of the Year by the Miami County Fair on several occasions.  She entered her food and needlepoint at the Art Hall at the Miami County Fair and the Ohio State Fair and won with many of those entries.  Doris cared for numerous children over the years.  She also worked the election poll for many years.

Services will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Troy with Rev. Dave Leckrone officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.  Friends may call from 5-8 PM on Wednesday at the church.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Baird Funeral Home in Troy.
