Doris C. Klein, 89, of Troy, Ohio passed out of this life on Monday, February 9, 2004 at the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio. She was born on March 1, 1914 in Putnam County, Ohio to the late William Francis and Bessie Elizabeth McClane McOwen. She is preceeded in death by her husband, Paul M. Klein who passed away on July 10, 1995. She is survived by three children, Phyllis and Roger Primm of Ashland, Ohio; Kathleen and Robert Mitchell of Gaithersburg, Maryland; and Marcia and Patrick Ryan of Troy, Ohio. She also is survived by sisters, Dottie Ketchem of Rockford, Ohio; and Mrs. Robert Jayne Zuber of Elida, Ohio. Grandchildren that survive are Jeffrey Mitchell and his wife Terra; and Susan Mitchell all of Maryland. Also one great grandchild, Caitlyn Mitchell. Along with her parents, and husband preceeding her in death, she also has a sister, Zelma Young, and brothers, Kermit McOwen; Donald McOwen and Clyde McOwen. Mrs. Klein was a member of the Hillside Chapel of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Beavercreek, Ohio and former Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She and her husband were the recipients of the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award in 1991 and served as the Troy Strawberry Festival parade grand marshals in 1992. She was also a charter member of mother's Study Club; Past President of PTA of Kyle School. She and her husband, Paul founded K's Hamburger Shop in 1935. Although the business is now owned and operated by their daughter Marcia Ryan, Mrs. Klein continued to work as the bookkeeper until her death. Prior to that, 1929-1935, she was the office manager of the Montgomery Ward's in Lima. Contibutions may be made to Gideons International; Hospice of Miami County or Health Partners.
