DORIS LOUISE CARTER, age 87, of Troy passed away on August 18, 2014 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.  She was born in Dayton on June 22, 1927 to the late Archie and Mary Ann (Ewing) Kelchner.  Doris was married to Donald F. Carter for 64 years and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Doris is survived by three children: Danis (Karen) Carter of San Diego, CA, Denise Olden and Daron Carter, both of Troy; one sister: Vera (Jack) Miller of Brookville; nine grandchildren: Amanda Carter, Derk, Jerica, Denise L., Jasmine and Diamond Clemons, Tim, Todd and Tommy Carter; three great grandchildren: Amaya and Kiaser Clemons and Maebree Carter; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter: Deborah Anne Carter; three brothers: Lawrence, Ivan and Raymond Kelchner; and one sister: Mary Johnson.

Doris attended Roosevelt High School in Dayton.  She was a sales clerk in Dayton and several local shops, but preferred being a homemaker to her family.  Doris was born into the Church of God in Dayton.  She later became a member of First Lutheran Church of Troy.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 22, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Troy with Rev. Ric Barnes officiating.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.  Friends may call from 6-8 PM on Thursday at Baird Funeral Home in Troy and one hour prior to the service at the church.
