Dorcas "Dorrie" A. Wilson Dorcas "Dorrie" A. Wilson, age 79, formerly of Troy, Ohio, more recently of Canton, Michigan, passed away at 8:15PM on April 28, 2010 at Brighton Gardens of Northville in Plymouth. She was born on February 4, 1931 in Cloquet, Minnesota to the late Walter F. and Clara Thomas Hoffman. She married Charles Wilson in 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1996. In addition to her parents and her husband, Dorrie was preceded in death by a son, Michael, and a sister, Ruth. She is survived by one daughter, Catherine Vondenhuevel of North Carolina, one son and daughters-in-law: Christopher C. and Pam Wilson of Michigan and daughter-in-law Jenny Wilson of Troy; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Genie Hoffman of Washington; and 7 grandchildren: Daniel Vondenhuevel of North Carolina, Morgan Sams and Daphne Vondenhuevel of Ohio, Christopher and Jon Wilson of Michigan, and Katie and Matthew Wilson of Troy, and two great grand children. Dorrie received her Bachelors Degree from Washington State University and her Masters of Education Degree from Wright State University and Specialist Education Degree from University of Dayton. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Troy, Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, Founding Member of the Troy Chapter of PEO Sisterhood, Kaiser Lake Sailing Club, Miami Valley Pet Therapy, Echo Hills Kennel Club, Humane Society, and Valley Arts and Crafts Club and Boutique. She also taught at Miami Valley Pet Therapy with Brandy and Skye. She was a teacher and head of the Home Economics Department for the Troy City Schools for thirty years before she retired. She had been a resident of Troy since 1967. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, May 3, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church, Troy with Rev. Dr. Richard C. Culp officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Friends may call from 2-6PM on Sunday at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church, 20 South Walnut Street, Troy, Ohio 45373. Friends may express condolences to the family through www.bairdfuneralhome.com.
