DONALD EUGENE LOEWER, age 90, of Troy, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Storypoint in Troy.  He was born in Phoneton, OH on January 29, 1927 to the late John Anthony and Elizabeth (Luthman) Loewer.  He married Nancy M. Myers and she survives.

Don is also survived by his children: Donna Hughes of Tipp City, David Loewer of Versailles, Deborah Loewer of Portland, OR, Tony Loewer of Phoenix, AZ, Linda Gray of Sun City, AZ, Lynette Moore of Port Orange, FL, Michelle Kay Johnston of Troy and Gregory Scott Lucous of Brookville; siblings: Ruth (Richard) Baltes, Mary Rodgers, Betty (Les) Sarniguet, Carol Gastiger, Gene Loewer, Herbie Loewer, Howard (Helen) Loewer, JoAnn (Steve) Denman and Margret (Lou) Leever; one sister-in-law: Barbara Loewer; sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren, plus 2 great grandbabies to be.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Bernard Loewer.

Don was a 1945 graduate of Bethel High School.  He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy.  Don proudly served his country as a paratrooper with the 11th Airbourne during WW II.  He was a member of VFW Post  4615 in Tipp City and American Legion Post 586 in Tipp City and Post 43 in Troy.  Don loved golf, gardening, dancing and playing cards.  Most importantly, he loved his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy with Rev. Fr. James Duell as Celebrant.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy with full military honors presented by Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Troy.  Friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.
