Dewey Carl Brandenburg of Troy, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025. He was born on December 15, 1933, in Fixer, Kentucky, to the late Lewis and Elsie (Williams) Brandenburg.
He is survived by his daughter: Charlotte (Scott) Collins of Troy; sons: David Brandenburg of Bellefontaine, and Douglas (Rhonda) Brandenburg of Goose Creek, SC; six grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years: Patricia Alice Brandenburg, brothers Roy, Willis, Clem, Morce, and Carrol Brandenburg and sisters: Mila Carpenter, Lila Weber, and Barbara Brandenburg.
He was a graduate of American Home Schooling. He completed coursework at the Baptist Bible College Correspondence School, Prairie Bible Institute Correspondence School, and Liberty Home Bible Institute. He was an avid student of the Bible.
He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed with B.F. Goodrich for 33 years and retired in 1998.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Ludlow Falls and a former member of Troy Baptist Church. He was an ordained minister of the Gospel and served as a children's evangelist for over 30 years; conducting hundreds of children's revivals and special days in churches in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Michigan.
He was a life-long magician and had been a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) since 1954. During this time, he received the honor of the Order of Merlin, Excalibur from the IBM. He was the previous president of the Ring 3 Magicians Club of the IBM. He was a lifetime member of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians since 1968 and a frequent lecturer at their annual convention. He also was an accomplished ventriloquist.
He was a member of Clowns of America International and was a volunteer along with his wife in area hospitals, using his talents as a clown, magician, and ventriloquist. He was a great conversationalist and always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell.
Services will be held at Noon at Baird Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Brandenburg officiating, assisted by Pastor David Thomasson, Pastor Dale Scott, and Brother Monty Stratton. The internment will take place at Riverside Cemetery of Troy. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-12 on Friday, April 4.
