In loving memory of Dennis (Denny) Lee Schaffer.

Denny Schaffer, age 71, of Troy, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 27, 2025.  He had been ill with congestive heart failure for several years.

Denny was born on October 6, 1954 in Owosso, Michigan to Max and Leona Schaffer.  He had an older brother, Roy Schaffer.  The family owned a mint farm in Owosso.

On June 23, 1979, Denny married Vicki Kildea, of Corunna, Michigan.  They were together 46 years and had two children, their daughter, Sarah Haight, and their son, Jordan Schaffer.  He was also blessed with a beautiful daughter in law, Kristina (Byers) and three grandsons, Kahne Haight, Kasey Haight and Grayson Schaffer.  Family was everything to Denny and being a grandpa was the best part of his life!

Denny graduated from Owosso High school and then went on to work at Universal/A.O. Smith/Regal Beloit in Owosso, Michigan and Tipp City, Ohio for over 45 years.

Denny is survived by his wife, Vicki Schaffer; daughter, Sarah Haight; son Jordan (Kristina) Schaffer; and grandsons, Kahne Haight, Kasey Haight and Grayson Schaffer, all of Troy, Ohio.

Also surviving him from Michigan are his mother in law, Carolyn Kildea; brother in law, Tim (Cindy) Kildea; sister in law, Julie Kildea and brother in law, Steve (Dawn) Kildea.  He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who were very special to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his second dad, Martin O'Brien and his brother, Roy Schaffer.  Also preceding him was his father in law, David Kildea, and his brother in law, Jeff Kildea.

Denny enjoyed several years owning his treasured Harley Davidson Road King.  It was his pride and joy!  He and Vicki took several trips out West and Up North in Michigan through the years.  He also loved the Detroit Lions and watching his NCIS and Criminal Minds shows on TV.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio for the care they gave him.  The family also has great appreciation for Ohio's Hospice of Miami County in Troy, Ohio for the end of care support they gave to him and his family.
