Dennis Allen Green Obituary
Denny A. Green age 82 passed away on Sept 17, 2024 at Upper Valley Medical Center under Inpatient Hospice care with his wife by his side. He was born in Piqua, Ohio on Sept 12, 1942 to the late Joseph Arnold Green and Nellie Ivalene (Fisher) Green Shaner.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 37 years Linda Elizabeth Green; son and daughter-in-law Vincent & Tina Green of Troy; daughter and son-in-law Diane & Daniel Hunt of Troy: two granddaughters: Karli Green of Piqua and Jaiden Hunt of Troy; brother Joseph and Julie Green of Piqua; sister Marcella & Ronald Armstrong of Tipp City along with nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Carol J Vogt.
He graduated from Versailles High school in 1960 then enlisted in the United States Navy in 1961. His service in the Navy included being sent for Seabee training and then was stationed in Cuba for 18 months. He helped set up first line of defense to prepare for an assault on Cuba and helped evacuate all American civilians onto ships during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He then was transferred to ACB-Seabees in 1964, trained for amphibious assaults with UDT (Navy Frogman) and Marines. He was honorably discharged in 1967 then later re-enlisted in the Army National Guard Artillery. He worked for Huntsman Container in Troy which changed ownership numerous times and retired from Dolco Packaging Co after 35 yrs.
He loved animals, nature, gardening, music and watching sports (Golf, Football, Baseball and Hockey). He was a member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge. He and Linda were involved with Bruckner Rehabilitation, prior to many years of illness they would pack up every weekend and go to the trailer which they absolutely loved. When they couldn't go to the campgrounds anymore, they created their own place at home in the country taking care of many animals and gardens throughout the years.
