DELPHINE B. (HEFFELFINGER) NEWMAN
Delphine B. (Heffelfinger) Newman, age 87, of Troy, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at her daughters residence. She was born in Miami County, OH on March 2, 1926 to the late Algea Thomas and Treva Ellen (Curtis) Heffelfinger. Delphine was married to Roy E. Newman. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Delphine is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Carolyn and Chester Corn of Troy; two sisters and brother-in-law: Ruby and Clifton Taylor and Doris Brown, all of Troy; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Roger and Joyce Heffelfinger and Tommy and Judy Heffelfinger, all of Troy; three grandchildren: Cherilyn and David Polhamus of Troy, Clifton and Rochelle Corn of Piqua and Carrie and Bobbie Williams of Covington; fourteen great grandchildren: Chad and Meghan Corn, Ashlee Polhamus, Amanda Polhamus, Cameron DeHart, Calab DeHart, Diamond Grody, Landon Corn, Jake Polhamus, Jamee Grody, Jilliena Williams, Matt Roark, Nick Roark, Bradley Roark and Taylor Moberly: Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers: Dale, Richard, Noland, Ned, Harold and Don Heffelfinger; and one sister: Virginia Baldwin.
Delphine was a attended of First United Methodist Church, Troy, VFW Post 5436 of Troy and volunteered for Toys for Tots and Polio Bread Drive. She loved sewing, family, friends and cooking. Delphine won Best of Show for Troy Daily News with her Frittata Recipe and had many other recipes posted in cookbooks. She loved to fish and tied the record for largest Black crappie caught in Ohio.
Funeral services will be at 11:00AM on Monday February 24, 2014 at Baird Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday February 23, 2014 at the funeral home.
