Obituary

Deborah Diane Slough, 68, of Troy, Ohio passed out of this life on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at her home. She was born in Miami County on October 16, 1953, to the late Ralph and Carmella Dean (Ferrara).

Loved ones that cleared the path for Debbie's grand entrance to heaven are siblings; Patricia Rank, Betty Criner, Robert Dean, Carol Baker, Victoria Dershem, and Bill Swartz; and in-laws Gary Slough and Beverly (Slough) Davis.

Loved ones that will miss Debbie until they meet again are her husband of 30 years, Ricky J. Slough, and three children, daughters and son-in-laws; Denise (Pence) & John Shellenberg, Leslie (Pence) & BJ West, and son Ricky J. Slough II (Melissa Coates); five grandchildren, Brandon Zimmerman, McCain (Shellenberg) & Brandon Hill, Harley Burns and Carson & Alexis West; and one great grandchild, Jolene Hill; brother, Sam & Sue Dean; brother-in-laws Michael Slough (Susie) & John Davis; sister-in-laws Terri Slough & Ann Bartelli (Jack); and many adored nieces and nephews.

Debbie was the owner/operator of S&S Cleaning for 25 years with remarkable and longstanding relationships. She cherished every moment with the man who was her life, while walking hand in hand together facing life with all its conflict. He stood by her comforting and caring till the end, and shared her love of camping, family, cards, and time with the grandchildren. Her competitive nature when playing cards had her friends referring to her as the Card Club Queen and her son-in-laws referring to her as "Em's."

Debbie was a phenomenal woman, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who possessed reserves of strength and tolerance. She was never one to hold back her opinion or generosity, and she had the extraordinary beauty of the simple human heart. She taught her children and grandchildren perseverance, honesty, and the true bond of family.

What really matters is not our competence but our character, and not our success but our significance, and Debbie lived a life that matters: a life of love. She was an angel who lived amongst us, a gift from God.
