Darrell E. Cottrell, age 82, of Troy, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Miami Valley Hospital.  He was born on April 27, 1941 in Eaton, OH to the late Ronald E. and Marjorie (Rike) Cottrell.

Darrell is survived by his wife of 42 years: Kathleen M. (Carder) Cottrell; children: Pamela K. (Ron) Chandler of Brookville, Stephen E. (Theresa) Cottrell of Brookville, Robert (Katie) Cottrell of Brookville and Stacey (Luke) Baker of Springfield; sisters: Teresa Anderson of Mason, OH and Debbie Larson of Reno, Nevada; grandchildren: Taira, Jessica, Tiffanie, Wesley, Brandon, Holden, Payton, Anna, Natalie, Brooke, Lincoln and Hudson and great-grandchildren: Logan, Jonah, Kenley, Elyn, Audrey, John, Bennett, Lyla, Jackson, Liam, Jameson and Carson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Kevin Lee Cottrell; sisters: Sandy Sullivan and Kathy Ratliff and brother: Ronnie Cottrell.

Darrell was a graduate of Eaton High School.  He loved cars, especially Nascar, golfing, traveling through Holmes County, watching Florida State College football and going to High School playoffs in Canton.  He was a Police Officer with West Alexandria Police Department, Preble County Sheriff's Department and Good Samaritan Police Department.

Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 16, 2024 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
