Obituary

On Friday, April 8th, 2022, Daniel Lee Ward, loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend peacefully passed away at the age of 76.

Daniel was born on August 9, 1945 in Casstown, Ohio to Ray and Edwina Ward. He worked for the family business, Ward Sanitary and Excavating Service, before going to work for Veolia Corporation until his retirement in 2014. He continued working in wastewater for Miami East Schools as wastewater plant supervisor until January of this year.

Dan loved classic cars, vintage toys, and old time rock n' roll. He enjoyed participating in car shows and going to flea markets and antique stores, scoping out the "best deals" and gathering unique items for yearly Christmas gifts for his family. He got the biggest kick out of collecting Longaberger Pottery all year long for his daughters and grandchildren and then displaying them proudly for their choosing on Christmas mornings. He was generous, thoughtful, and kind in every way.

Dan was never more at peace than when he spent time on the beach in Florida. Flagler Beach held a special place in his heart and the family spent many summer vacations there. He loved the sand in his toes and the sound of the waves crashing on a quiet day. We know that his Spirit now rolls onto the shore in those same powerful waves forevermore.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers, Mark and Butch, and, The Love of His Life, Carolyn Ward, adored wife. He is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Joe) Hart and Tiffany (David) Wall of Troy, granddaughters, Bethany (Charles Deakins) Hart of England, Chloe (Zach) Finke of Cincinnati, Anna Wall of Troy, grandson, Matthew (Elizabeth) Hart of Utah, sister, Carolyn Youngerman of Casstown, and brother, Doug Ward of Kentucky.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 1st 2:00-4:00 at his daughter's residence at 3071 Parkwood Drive at Troy, Ohio.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that Dan's legacy and love of Christmas will be honored with donations to The Community Food Truck Christmas Fund at 2350 Peebles Road, Troy, Ohio. Donations may also be made to Everheart Hospice in Greenville, Ohio.
