Daniel Carlyle Thorstad, 33, of Troy, Ohio died at his residence on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 after a brave battle with cancer. Dan was born on April 5, 1971 in Appleton, Wisconsin to Gerald & Diane Sonnenberg Thorstad. He is survived by his parents of Troy, his sister, Sheri and her husband, Tom Kearns of Troy, his nephew, Austin and nieces, Marissa and Alicya, his grandfather, Walter Sonnenberg of Wisconsin; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack & Jeanette Thorstad and Glenis Sonnenberg. Dan was a 1989 graduate of Miami East High School and a 1994 graduate of Ohio University where he completed a dual major after being diagnosed with cancer. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was employed at 84 Lumber and the family business of Peters Printing Co. and as a restaurant manager for Bob Evans. Dan loved participating in Miami East musical productions; soccer; and tennis while in school and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved deer-hunting with his dad and uncle, fishing; golf and football. Dan enjoyed spending time with his many friends, his trips to visit family in Wisconsin and never gave in to his battle with cancer. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 19, 2005 at 10:30AM at the First United Methodist Church, 110 W. Franklin Street, Troy with the Revs. Dr. James C. Wilson II and Ed Ellis offficiating. Burial will be at Mount Morris Holden Lutheran Cemetery, Waushara County, Wisconsin. Friends may call on Friday, March 18, 2005 from 3-5 & 7-9PM at Baird Funeral Home in Troy. There will also be a visitation at the Leikness Funeral Home, 358 S. Oxford, Wautoma, Wisconsin on Monday, March 21, 2005 from 12:00-2:30PM. A 2:30pm Prayer Service on Monday, March 21 and burial to follow in Mount Morris Holden Lutheran Cemetery, Waushara County, Wisconsin.
