Daniel J. Shoup was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He left this world in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer on December 29, 2023, at the age of 59. He was known and loved for his gentle kindness and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Dan was born on April 5, 1964, to Pauline (Hinkle) Shoup of Covington and the late Allen Shoup. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years: Shirley Apple-Shoup; loving children: Chad (Kristy) Apple of Troy, Ryan (Kyla) Apple of Bradford, and Bethany (Jason) Monahan of Ft. Thomas, KY; grandchildren: Connor, Kamryn, Collin, Caleb, Cayden and Ada; siblings: Paula (Gale) Long, Melissa (Gary) Cooper and Greg Shoup; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen, brother-in-law, Jim, and sister-in-law, Carolyn.

Dan completed his bachelor's degree at Wright State University in 1988. He had a tenured career as an electrical engineer with Panasonic and Clopay. He shared a love of camping with his family, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and traveling to the beach and the mountains with his wife.

A visitation for friends and family will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 4:00-7:00PM at Baird Funeral Home in Troy, with a service in his honor to immediately follow at 7:00PM.
