Curtis Lester Curtis Lester, age 84, of Casstown, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at his residence. He made his preparation on December 2, 1980, when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was born on April 25, 1927 in Council, Buchanan County, Virginia, to Luther and Ocie Stevens Lester. Curtis is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lorene Coleman Lester; three daughters: Janice Ralph Maberry of Cookeville, Tennessee, Joy Dennis Nickell of Casstown, Ohio and Barb Lester of Dayton, Ohio; two sons: Gary Jeanette Lester of Dayton and Terry Becky Lester of Utica, Ohio; one sister, Gay Lou Pena of California; six grandchildren: Lori Nickell, David Elizabeth Nickell, Graci Lester, Laci Lester, Traci Lester and Lucas Smith; one great-grandchild, Riley Norman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters and brothers-in-law. Curtis was a member of the First Dayton Free Will Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He worked in the Virginia coal mines and retired from Chrysler in Dayton. Curtis loved his wife and children and he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing and hunting. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with Pastor Robert W. Legg, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown, Ohio with Veterans Honor Guard services at the graveside. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
