Clyde J. Shaffer, age 88, of Piqua, Ohio died Friday, February 25, 2011 at the Piqua Manor Nursing Home. He was born December 30, 1922 in Troy, Ohio to the late William Clyde and Mary Ann Shiltz Shaffer. He married Goldie A. VanKirk Grau on January 29, 1972 in Piqua, Ohio and she survives. He is also survived stepchildren, Christine Hall of Minster, Ohio; Dennis and Harriett Grau of Sun City West, Arizona; Joseph and Linda Grau of Harveysburg, Ohio; Mark and Kathy Grau of Piqua, Ohio; Alvin and Diana Grau of Piqua, Ohio; Scott and Brenda Grau of Troy, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Marcella Shaffer of Troy, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by brother, William Shaffer; sister, Norma Lewis; and half-sister, Clara Swabb. He attended Elizabeth Township School in Troy. He was a member of the Salvation Army and the Seniors Club. Clyde was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds. He worked at Brown Bridge Mills from 1950-1983 and retiring after 33 years of service. Services will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio with Major Robert Klenk officiating. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00PM on Tuesday at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
