CLIFTON B. TAYLOR

Clifton B. Taylor, age 86, of Troy passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at his residence.

He was born on September 4, 1928 in Casstown to the late Joseph Paul and Rosa Ellen (Bowman) Taylor.  His wife of over 67 years, Ruby A. (Heffelfinger) Taylor, survives.

Cliff is also survived by one granddaughter: Jodell (Jon) Davis of Troy; two great grandchildren: Ryan (Michelle) Vanderhorst of Covington and Alyson Vanderhorst of Troy; three great great grandchildren: Makayla, Makenzie and AJ Vanderhorst; and one sister: Jeanette Taylor of Troy.   He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom he dearly loved and special friends, David Hastings, Larry Shaw and Matt Clifton.  In addition to his parents, Cliff was preceded in death by one daughter: Connie S. Taylor; seven brothers: Ellsworth, Edward, Kenneth, Robert, Bernard, Ira and Marion Taylor; and seven sisters: Cora Miller, Margaret Brandenburg, Catherine Cool, Lelia Pinkerton, Helen Landis, Evelyn Miller and Patricia Ely.

Cliff proudly served his country as a member of the US Army during WW II.  He was a member of Troy Fish and Game Club.  Cliff retired from Inland GM in Vandalia after 36 years of service.  He was then employed by the City of Troy at the Riverside Cemetery for 23 years.

Services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with Pastor Jill DeLaCruz and Chaplain Candy Null officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.  Military honors will be presented at the cemetery by Troy VFW Memorial Honor Guard.  Friends may call from 5-8 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
