Obituary

Cheryl Everett Wright, age 76, formerly of Troy, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 24th, 2024, in Austin, Texas.  She was born on December 25,1947 in Troy, the daughter of the late Glen and Helen Virginia (Emerick) Everett.  She was married twice, both to Terry L. Wright, who preceded her in death in 2010.  She used to joke that her second husband was always her favorite.  They were married for almost 43 years.  Cheryl received her BS in Education from Bowling Green University.  She was a beloved teacher for the Piqua City School District for 29 years until her retirement in 2004, most of those years teaching Language Arts and Social Studies to 6th graders.  She served as the 6th Grade Level Chairperson for many years creating curriculum and meeting state guidelines.   She loved her students and had kept in touch with many of them.  One of their favorite activities was to create time capsules as 6th graders who would then return their senior year of high school for a party and to open the capsules.  Past assignments from students that she particularly found funny were found among her things that she had saved all these years.

She loved animals all her life, particularly the Arabian horse, instilling a love for horses in both her daughters and eldest grand- daughter.  She and Terry bred and raised the multi - national champion Arabian, CW Knoxville Rush.

Cheryl, with her best friend, created "The Lemon Maids", donating their time driving around on a decorated golf cart passing out complimentary lemonade at the Region 14 Arabian Horse Show every July in Lexington, KY to trainers, exhibitors and spectators trying to beat the extreme heat.  They did this for many years and created lasting memories for all.

In addition to horses, Cheryl also had a love for books.  Reading was one of her favorite past times.   She created "libraries" of some of her favorite children's books for all her grandchildren beginning at birth.  While cooking was not her strong suit, she could bake a cherry pie that rivaled none.   She found every shade of beige beautiful and loved her Diet Coke.

Preceded in death by her parents and husband, she is survived by daughters Elizabeth (Tom) Moore, Megan Denyer and grandchildren Jake and Emily Moore and Rex, Caroline and Catherine Denyer, sister Glenda Grilliot and brother Jeff Everett.

A private service for the family will be held at her request in Ohio.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Cheryl's memory.
