CHARLES C. McGOVERN IV

CHARLES C. McGOVERN, IV, age 49, of Troy, Ohio transitioned to heaven on December 23, 2015 following an accidental head injury in Troy, OH.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Marsha; children; Brandon (Jennifer), Christopher and Nicholas; grandson: Noah; step children: Carolyn Yoakem and Sarah (Chad) Windland; four step grandchildren and two great grandchildren; parents: Charles and Tina McGovern and Patricia McGovern; siblings: Mellissa Prather, Robert McGovern, Jennifer Waelti and Matthew McGovern; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and his dear dog: Heidi.

Charles is remembered first and foremost as a loving and proud father.  His smile lights up his face anytime the name of one of his children is mentioned.  He is so proud of Brandon and Christopher's accomplishments, pursuing education and finding good jobs.  He was excited and supportive of his youngest son, Nicholas, as he finished high school and is planning his career.  Ensuring the success of his children was Charles' passion in life and he often said they would be his legacy.  Charles and Marsha worked hard to provide for their family.  Their most memorable and fun times were in the company of their children and grandchildren.  They enjoyed family trips to North Carolina and Florida together and Charles' dream was to one day return to Florida to live.

Charles worked in the building, remodeling and maintenance business in Troy and Vandalia, OH for many years.  He never knew a stranger and had a welcoming and friendly personality that was infectious.  He made friends wherever he went!  Charles has numerous loving friends to prove it!  He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was concerned about others even while suffering from the debilitating pain and damage from a severe back injury.

Charles, you were taken from us all too soon.  We will miss your laughter and big smile.  We know you are forever here in spirit and will be protectively watching over Marsha and your three boys and their families.  Your sons are proud to call you "Dad" and will keep the good memories you made together close to their hearts.  You set a good example of what "love of family" and "Hard work" really means.  We miss you and love you!

Visitation will be held at Baird Funeral Home on Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 2-5 PM.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM at Baird Funeral Home in Troy, OH on Monday, December 28, 2015.
