Charles D. Hampton died on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 at his residence after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara C. Stine Hampton; children, Charlene Mae Barker, Charles Donald and Ann Hampton, Cathy Sue Barker and Robyn Lynn and Robert Hunter; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles D. and Mary Mae Burkhardt Hampton and one grandson, Mark Edmund Wogoman. Mr. Hampton was US Army veteran of WWII. He loved the outdoors, water, and camping. He retired after 30 years of service as lathe operator and repairman at A.O. Smith.
