Charles R. Christopher M.D., age 64 of Troy, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at 5:32AM on Thursday, September 20, 2012. He was born on December 30, 1947 in Buckhannon, West Virginia to Henry L. Christopher and the late Mabel Sue Fitzgerald Christopher. His wife of 33 years, Anastasia Spinelli Christopher, survives. Other survivors include his children: Lee Gordon Christopher of Cincinnati, Kelly Randall Young of Indianapolis, IN and Lauren Christopher of Columbus; his sister, Tammy Armintrout of Warsaw, OH and two grandchildren, Ethan Christopher and Elliott Charles Young. Dr. Christopher completed his undergraduate work at the University of Dayton, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He graduated from medical school at The Ohio State University, completing his residency at Miami Valley Hospital and Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton. He completed a fellowship in High Risk Obstetrics at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. He served on the staff at Kettering Memorial Hospital until the time of his death. He has a private practice in Medical Acupuncture in Centerville, OH. Dr. Christopher was the first Obstetrician to perform fetal surgery and fetal transfusions at Miami Valley Hospital. Additionally, he was affiliated with Wright State University Medical School where he served as a professor. During his career, he published research articles on fetal transfusions and fetal surgery. Dr. Christopher loved woodworking, was an avid reader and was a huge OSU sports fan. A private memorial service will be held.
