CHARLES R. DYAS, SR
Charles (Charlie) R. Dyas, Sr., age 89, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Sterling House in Troy. He was born on February 12, 1925 in Cleveland to the late Carl Edward and Alma H. (Diemer) Dyas. Charles was married to Therese A. (Zeleznik) Dyas who preceded him in death on June 17, 2002.
Charles is survived by five daughters; Carol (Peter) Poninsky of Fair Oaks, Pennsylvania, Diane (William) Twiss of Troy, Linda (Dean) Fite of Burlington, Kentucky, Therese (Charles Neack) Dyas of West Chester, Ohio and Nancy Niemer of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons: Charles (Kathy) Dyas, Jr. of Milford Center, Ohio and Thomas (Kathryn) Dyas of Piqua; one sister: Mary Alma Stasik of Darien, New Jersey; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, Charles was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert E. Dyas, James H.Dyas and John "Jack" A. Dyas, all WWII veterans.
Charles served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, serving as a flight engineer in Italy with the Eighth Army. He was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Troy and was a former member of the Troy Elks Lodge. He attended Ohio University and retired as a financial advisor from IDS American Express Investment Services. Charles enjoyed cycling and the many family gatherings.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Troy with The Rev. Father James Duell officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Troy. Friends may call at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy from 5-7 PM Friday, December 12, 2014.
