Obituary

Charles E. "Buzz" Neer, of Piqua, died Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Dayton VA Hospice.  He was born in Urbana to the late Walter and Mary (Jenkins) Neer.  Buzz was a 1958 graduate from Urbana High School.  He worked at Grimes Manufacturing, then B. F. Goodrich from which he retired after 34 years.  He proudly served in the US Army.

Buzz enjoyed playing cards, watching the Cincinnati Red, Bengals, Ohio State Buckeye, and any team that beat the Georgia Bulldogs.  He enjoyed camping.  He camped for 35 years at Q'Tokee and 13 years at Lazy R. Campground.  He enjoyed traveling to Chatham, Ontario, Canada and visiting with friends.  He also enjoyed going to Pigeon Forge with family and friends.

Buzz is survived by his wife: Kay (Zimmerman) Neer, whom he married on June 4, 1963.  He is also survived by his son: Brian (Girlfriend, June Goodman) Neer; sister: Karen Sue Neer; several nieces and nephews; and a special long time friend: Dwight Reed.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Barbara Neer, Elizabeth Neer, Betty (Sam) Metz, Dorothy (Maurice) Wheeler, Sharon Annabelle Beaty and Mary (Bob) Hildreth; and brothers: Lewis (Judy) Neer, Jerry (Mary Alice) Neer, Walter (Connie) Neer and Jim (Mary) Neer.

He will be missed by family, neighbors and camp friends.  Special thanks to the Dayton VA Hospice for the care they gave him during his time there.
