Charles C. Barrett Sr. Charles C. Barrett Sr., 85, died at 10:40PM Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Harborside Health Care, Troy. He was formerly of Middletown, OH, but more recently of Troy, OH. He was born October 17, 1921, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Francis M. and Petranella Pondo Barrett. He was married to Veronica Karwacki Barrett who preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Charles and Diana Barrett Jr. of Troy, OH, Tom and Terry Barrett of Louisville, KY, and Bob and Cindy Barrett of Troy, OH; brother: Frank Barrett of Cockeysville, MD; six grandchildren and their spouses: Chip and Sarah Barrett, Casey and Mindy Barrett, Shannon Barrett, Tom and Christine Barrett Jr., Katie and Damon Block, and Rob Barrett; and four great-grandchildren: Lucia, Milana, Casey, and Brandon. In addition to his parents and his wife, Veronica, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Bonnie and granddaughter, Camilla. He was a graduate of Calvert Hall High School, class of 1939 and in 1948 he graduated from Loyola College, Baltimore. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy and a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Middletown. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge, and member of the Elktone singing group, Middletown, OH. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 218, former member of honor guard, VFW; and Knights of Columbus of Middletown. Charles was a chemical engineer, formerly employed by Martin Aircraft, Baltimore, MD; Aeronca in Middletown, OH; and Formica in Sharonville, OH. He was a WWII Veteran of the 15th Air Force serving in 52 combat missions and nine campaigns. He served in North Africa, Italy, and North Europe. He received the purple heart. . Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00PM Monday, May 14, 2007 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy, with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. There will be a 12:30PM Prayer Service prior to Mass at the funeral home. Friends may call from 2-6PM Saturday, May 12, 2007 at the funeral home.
